Editing Pages in Blackboard
Courses using the Online Learning ADA compliant template pages can be edited within any web browser. Make sure Edit Mode is ON before trying to edit. Here is how you can edit a syllabus section page or lesson page in the template.
- Enter the module and select the action link (it looks like a "V") beside the name of the page you'd like to update.
- Choose "Edit Page in Blackboard"
- Update the template by replacing template language with your own words. Look especially for text contained in [square brackets]. This text generally includes messages to you, the instructor, and should be replaced or deleted before students enter your course.
- Alternately, you may paste pre-written text into the template pages. However, do not overwrite entire files by pasting into them. Instead, paste sentences, paragraphs, etc., in their respective locations. Otherwise, you may lose the ADA accessible elements of the template page.
Guidelines to Remember:
- Use paragraph styles from the dropdown menu to create headings, subheadings, paragraphs, etc.
- Keep headings in nested order (H1, H2, H3, and so forth).
- Do not skip heading levels (ex. Do not move from H2 to H4 or from H3 to H5)
Tip: How to Copy and Paste into Template Pages
- Save original MS Word content as text only files. Do not paste existing formatted content from Word.
- Editing these pages may be challenging, especially if you're pasting formatted content.
- Pasting unformatted text, or ensuring you paste within a paragraph style is key.
